Where we govern

Bergrivier Local Municipality is one of the top three best-run municipalities in the country, according to the Government Performance Index. It has a zero tolerance approach to corruption – its last clean audit exemplified honest spending and good management. In the war on drugs, this DA-led municipality has set up a Drug Action Committee, offering opportunities and support to communities. Bergrivier Local Municipality works hard every day to deliver services to every home.

Bergrivier's Success Stories

Ours is one of the top three best municipalities in SA according to the 2016 Government Performance Index.

In the war on drugs, we have formed a Drug Action Committee to work with the community to offer opportunities and support.

This year, we handed out R300 000 in bursaries to help students from poor communities to study and get good jobs.

To save water, we fix water leaks and maintain equipment properly, reducing water losses from 20% to 8% in the last six years.

97.7% of homes in Bergrivier have access to flush toilets. We work hard every day to bring this, and other services like electricity; piped water and rubbish removal, to every home.
