The Executive Mayor of Mossel Bay cllr Harry Levendal official marked the start of a brand new housing project in Herbertsdale with a sod turning ceremony. The project will see the construction of 150 houses.
This will be the second housing project in the rural town and is regarded as the largest capital project ever in the town.
All of the beneficiaries of the new homes are residents of either the town of Herbertsdale or the neighbouring farms.
Mayor Levendal welcomed the start of this project saying this housing development was something to be very proud of. He said it was especially important because the beneficiaries would all be residents from the immediate area.
Die project will see the construction of 150 fully serviced sites and houses. The services have already been installed as this formed part of a 2016 project which saw nearly R7 million spent on providing the necessary infrastructure.
Each home will be 40 square metres with two bedrooms, a bathroom, an open plan sitting room and a kitchen. The contractor has already started on site and the project is expected to be completed by late 2018.
